About Course
A critique is not about us telling you what is wrong, it is a conversation about colour, space, direction, composition, design, values, brushwork, focal points, areas of rest, balance, movement, proportion, story and much more.
Every second Tuesday of the month, I host painting critiques through Zoom. Each student can submit up to two pieces for critique before the live session. Submissions are accepted up to the day before the critique to ensure I have time to make a full assessment.
I analyze the artwork and make adjustments in photo editing software, providing a clear visual reference when discussing changes. Sometimes, it’s as simple as refining a value; other times, it requires restructuring the composition for a stronger impact.
These critiques will help you identify key elements to make your paintings more engaging and purposeful, accelerating your learning curve and helping you grow as a painter.
During the live Zoom session, each painting will have about a ten 10 minute slot for the critique. Students are encouraged to chat while the critique is in session.
Attending the critique session is not mandatory but highly recommended, as it provides an opportunity for live discussion and to address any additional questions. All sessions are recorded and made available shortly after, along with digital copies of the adjusted paintings for future reference.
Join today and get started seeing how to improve your paintings!
